Released on 3 March 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was the debut studio album from renowned hip hop trio De La Soul, and the first of three full length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both artists.  

Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap). 3 Feet High & Rising was chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry for its cultural significance and general excellence. 

Containing the singles 'Me Myself And I', 'The Magic Number', 'Buddy' and 'Eye Know', the album has been hailed as a hip hop classic and is also listed on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of all time. 

The album is now available for the first time on blu-ray audio via this limited edition, #43 in Super Deluxe Edition's SDE Surround Series.

The blu-ray features Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and Stereo mixes created by Rich Keller and overseen by De La Soul, with 6 exclusive bonus tracks (also in Atmos, 5.1 and stereo).

The 3 Feet High and Rising blu-ray is a limited edition and has a 16 day pre-order window, which closes on Friday 30 May 2025. Availability cannot be guaranteed after that date. 

This SDE exclusive blu-ray is released on 18 July 2025 via Chrysalis.

This blu-ray audio requires a blu-ray player. Decoding the Dolby Atmos Mix requires a Dolby Atmos certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver or amplifier, with appropriate speaker set-up. The Dolby Atmos Mix will play on 5.1 systems. It will 'fold down' to 5.1 if an Atmos decoder is not detected and sounds in elements that are unique to Atmos (e.g. 'height' speakers) will get player via other channels.
