Simple Minds’ 1985 album, Once Upon A Time, is now available to pre-order as this exclusive blu-ray audio edition, featuring an immersive Dolby Atmos Mix by original co-producer Bob Clearmountain, alongside other content.

On release, the band’s most successful album to date sold two million copies in two months and reached No 1 in the UK and the top 10 in America. It contains the classic hit singles ‘Alive and Kicking,’ ‘All the Things She Said,’ ‘Sanctify Yourself,’ and ‘Ghost Dancing’.

In addition to the Atmos Mix of Once Upon A Time, this new blu-ray edition also includes Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes of US No 1 single ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’, a selection of 12” remixes (stereo only) and 5.1, stereo and instrumental mixes of the album.

The Once Upon A Time (Region-free) blu-ray audio is #68 in the ongoing SDE Surround Series and will be packaged similarly to previous editions (clear amaray case) and ships with a free, collectible SDE Surround Series slipcase. It includes a 16-page booklet with sleevenotes/track-by-track by Simon Cornwell, with contributions from Charlie Burchill.

This is TIME LIMITED release; the pre-order window closes at midnight GMT on 12 July 2026. Availability after that point cannot be guaranteed.

Once Upon A Time will be released on 21 August 2026 via UMR.

This blu-ray audio requires a blu-ray player. Decoding the Dolby Atmos Mix requires a Dolby Atmos certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver or amplifier, with appropriate speaker set-up. The Dolby Atmos Mix will play on 5.1 systems. It will 'fold down' to 5.1 if an Atmos decoder is not detected and sounds in elements that are unique to Atmos (e.g. 'height' speakers) will get player via other channels.
