London Records are reissuing Bronski Beat's classic 1984 debut The Age of Consent for its 40th anniversary and this 4CD+DVD deluxe offers 22 previously unreleased tracks and video content.
Bronski Beat were Steve Bronski, Larry Steinbachek and Jimmy Somerville and this album (the only proper studio album to feature Jimmy) was released in October 1984, hitting the top 10 across Europe as well as in Canada and New Zealand. Three of its four singles made the UK 10, including 'Why?' and the enduring classic 'Smalltown Boy'.
This deluxe edition comes in 7" style casebound book packaging and features both The Age of Consent, Hundreds and Thousands and 41 bonus tracks including original 12-inch mixes, B-sides and 22 previously unreleased rarities including Capital Radio sessions, early versions, an original US Club Remix of 'Smalltown Boy' and a Hundreds & Thousands version of 'Love and Money'. The DVD includes restored promo videos, Top of the Pops performances and even some original TV ads!
The Age of Consent will be released on 18 October 2024 via London Records.
